MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
Sifu Sharif Talib’s Jow Ga kung fu experience began the summer of 1986 at Wong’s Chinese Boxing in Washington, DC. Talib’s major instructor was Sifu Craig Lee, but he also received instruction from Sifu Raymond Wong and his senior classmates including Chris Henderson, Maurice Gatdula, and Ron Wheeler. Talib would then train under his senior classmate Sifu Derek Johnson in Columbia, MD for a number of years before returning to DC to train under Sifus Terrance Robinson and Rahim Muhammad. While training with Sifu Terrance Robinson, Talib was reunited with his senior classmate Sifu Maurice Gatdula. When SIfu Terrance Robinson relocated to Thailand, Talib continued his training under Sifu Maurice Gatdula. Upon the suggestion of Sifu Gatdula, Talib started teaching small groups Jow Ga kung fu basics and foundation skills at the DC Charter schools where he worked as a math teacher. Sifu Raymond Wong would soon evaluate and recognize Talib as a Sifu, suggesting he start his school.
